WHAT THIS ROUTE IS

The Great British Insulation Scheme (GBIS) ran from 2023 to 31 March 2026. It was a standalone government scheme delivering insulation improvements to homes with poor energy performance across England, Scotland, and Wales. GBIS closed on 31 March 2026 and is no longer available for new applications. The information below is provided for historical reference. If you are looking for current insulation funding, the ECO4 scheme may still apply to eligible households.

Who may qualify

The following criteria may apply. These are indicative only and subject to scheme rules and installer assessment.

This scheme is closed. No new applications are being accepted.

Group A (historical): Households on qualifying benefits with a property rated EPC D–G

Group B (historical): Households in lower EPC-rated properties with low council tax bands

Owner-occupiers and eligible private tenants (historical criteria)
